GUIDELINES for Break-out Session Applicants
BACKGROUND:
When we speak of Service-Learning, diverse experiences and understanding often inform the conversation. AN INVITATION TO SHARE YOUR BEST TRANSFORMATIONAL SERVICE-LEARNING PRACTICE:
We invite you to submit a proposal of your innovative Service-Learning practice to present at least one of two x 1 ½ HOUR break-out sessions at our upcoming 2020 Transforming Service-Learning Conference 16-18th April at St. Joseph’s Gregory Terrace, Brisbane.
Your innovation must have the potential to be adapted or adopted in a variety of settings. Therefore, your session MUST include WORKSHOP TIME to allow attendees opportunities to question, discuss and explore key aspects of your innovative practice in relation to their own context.
We will be looking for experiences that share a strong people and/or planet connection and workshop topics that have applicability across the K-12 sector. Preference will be given to collaborative presentations where multiple voices/perspectives are shared.

- Engagement with people and planet, locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Intentional phases of preparation, experience and reflection.
- Community partnerships which are planned, reciprocal, sustainable and authentic.
- Best Practice – considering safety, ethics, justice, legalities, reciprocity, & solidarity.
- Holistic approaches which engage the Head, Heart and Hands
